Overview
We are seeking a volunteer Network Administrator with experience in Microsoft Office 365
and cloud-based IT systems to help maintain and secure our organization’s digital
infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring reliable communication, collaboration, and
security across our teams.
Key Responsibilities
Office 365 Administration
Assist with managing Microsoft 365 applications (Exchange Online, Teams,
SharePoint, OneDrive).
Help configure user accounts, licenses, and security groups.
Support email security and retention policies.
Network & Security Support
Provide input on maintaining LAN/WAN and VPN access for secure
connectivity.
Monitor and suggest improvements to network security protocols.
Help troubleshoot escalated technical issues.
Documentation & Training
Keep clear records of systems and procedures.
Assist with providing guidance to staff and volunteers using Office 365 tools.
Qualifications
Prior experience with Office 365/Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange, Teams,
SharePoint, OneDrive).
Familiarity with Azure Active Directory, security groups, and multi-factor
authentication.
General knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
Comfortable troubleshooting and explaining IT concepts to non-technical users.
Relevant certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco) are helpful but not required.
Time Commitment
Approximately 4–6 hours per week, flexible and remote-friendly.
All core responsibilities — including Office 365 administration, security monitoring,
and user support — can be performed online through Microsoft’s cloud-based
admin portals.
Volunteers may contribute from anywhere and at times that fit their schedule.
Only in rare cases of on-site hardware issues would local assistance be needed,
and those situations can typically be coordinated separately.
